Ruby slippers that Dorothy refuses to take off. They call out to Amy in Dorothy Must Die, by glowing and creating red streaks when they move. Glinda gave them to Dorothy to replace the silver shoes that were lost when Dorothy returned home, while the shoes granted Dorothy her powers they were also slowly corrupting her the more she used them. Glinda created the shoes from a powerful ruby necklace she stole from the Nome King as revealed in the fourth book. Glinda gives Dorothy the shoes to her as a gift on her sixteen birthday which brings her back to Oz.
